Terms of Use

Last updated: August 2026

By using The Newborn Index ("the site," "the study"), you agree to the terms below. If you don't agree, please don't submit a response.

What this site is

The Newborn Index is an independent research project. It is not affiliated with any hospital, government health agency, or medical organization, and nothing on this site is medical advice.

Not medical advice. Responses on this site are self-reported personal experiences from other parents, not clinical guidance. Always talk with a qualified healthcare professional about medical decisions for your family.

Who can submit

You must be a parent, legal guardian, or primary caregiver of the child you're submitting about, and old enough to legally consent to participate in the survey in your jurisdiction. Submissions must reflect your own honest experience.

Voluntary participation

Participation is entirely voluntary. Every question beyond the minimum required for your submission to count is optional. You can stop at any point before submitting without penalty, and your in-progress answers are only ever saved in your own browser, never sent anywhere until you hit submit.

Accuracy of information

This is a self-reported, self-selected survey — not a randomized clinical study. Percentages and figures shown reflect the respondent sample, not the general population, and shouldn't be treated as clinical or statistical proof of anything. See the Methodology section on the homepage for more detail.

Content you submit

If you choose to share a written story and opt into public display, you're granting The Newborn Index permission to display that content on the site and, if you separately opted in, to quote anonymous excerpts elsewhere (like a report or social post), consistent with the display and consent choices you made during submission.

Acceptable use

Don't submit false information, impersonate someone else, attempt to access other respondents' data, or use automated tools (bots/scrapers) to submit responses or extract data from this site.

No warranty

This site and its content are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the site will be error-free, uninterrupted, or permanently available.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the study evolves. Continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
